Being constructed under a 25-year design, build, operate PPP contract the Eastern Goldfields Prison Redevelopment project includes a new 350 bed prison, catering for both genders across all security ratings adjacent to the existing 100 bed prison.
WTP was engaged in 2013 as the State’s Advisers assessing modification quotations for the project which includes:
- 200 bed male medium security section with capacity to accommodate 20 maximum security prisoners
- 60 bed male minimum security section
- 40 bed male open minimum security section
- 50 bed female maximum, medium and minimum section including a 6-bed mothers and children unit.
The prison is being constructed in a mixture of traditional cell blocks and cottage type accommodation.
Construction works commenced August 2013 and the new prison is due for completion late 2015.
