Located at the intersection of Collins Street and Bourke Street, the new Docklands Library and Community Centre development is a three storey resource for Docklands residents.
The building incorporates a modern library, community multi-purpose meeting rooms, outdoor reading area and exhibition spaces.
The library was constructed atop a 100 year old timber wharf requiring the innovative use of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) for structural and cladding elements. CLT delivers a viable alternative to concrete and steel that can similar loadings to prefabricated concrete but requires less foundation, cutting construction time by as much as a third.
WT provided full quantity surveying services for the project.
